AS/Credentials System i Security Class
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the concepts of security. The objective is for the students to become familiar with all aspects of System i security so they can determine the best way to implement the appropriate security measures within their environment. This course is designed for the data processing professional responsible for implementing System i security. The student must know the System i object architecture and control language prior to attending class.

- The five different levels of system security
- The system values which control security, including devices and passwords
- The use of use profiles to tailor users' job environments
- The concepts behind resource security, including object authorities, public vs. private authorities, group profiles, and authorization lists
- The assigning and changing of ownership for objects
- The adoption of the authority of objects
- The system's checking of object authority prior to providing access
- The determination of the authority of spool files
- The system values and special authorities which control display station access
- The procedures for security recovery in the event of hardware failure
- The strategies for building data security into applications
